‘We are honoured to have had the opportunity to be this close to Choupette…’
Choupette, the feline muse of the late fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, has collaborated with an animal furniture company on a bed for cats.
Called Swing, the hammock-style bed by German company LucyBalu, is made from soft, heat-retaining and scent-absorbing felted wool with the hammock hanging between two powder-coated metal wall mounts.
Choupette, a blue-cream tortie Birman who is rumoured to have inherited some of the designer’s $200 million estate, endorsed the bed after a prototype was sent to her, via her agent, and it became the cat’s favourite place in her home. ‘With Choupette loving her hammock—which she sleeps and relaxes on—it is obvious that not only we, but cat owners all around the world should be introduced to the LucyBalu’s brand and products,’ said Choupette’s agent, Lucas Berullier.
Only 1,000 beds will be made and each is numbered by hand and bears Choupette’s ‘signature’. She also posed for the product’s campaign images.
‘We are honoured to have had the opportunity to be this close to Choupette,’ says LucyBalu designer Sebastian Frank. ‘I mean, we were the first people to ever be allowed to take pictures and videos of Choupette in her home. We are looking forward to further collaborations with Choupette.’
